ATTENTION CT WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSThe Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) is excited to announce the next round of our Ignite Grant Program, which will open August 12th, 2024! The deadline to apply is September 24th, 2024. The application will also be offered in Spanish. Please help us spread the word about the grant opportunity to women-owned businesses.The Ignite Grant Program is designed to help women-owned businesses grow. The program offers grants of up to $10,000 to women-owned businesses in the state of Connecticut who have been in business for 2 or more years and have revenues between $25K and $2 million. Since the start of the program, we have distributed 328 grants of over $3 million to women-owned businesses in Connecticut. For additional information and more details on the program, please visit our website. Starting August 14th, we will hold one-hour informational webinars each week throughout August and September to assist prospective applicants with their applications before submitting. The U.S. Department of Commerce | U.S. Commercial Service’s Connecticut office and the Connecticut District Export Council (“DEC”), invite Connecticut based businesses to self-nominate and be recognized by the DEC and the CT Business and Industry Association (CBIA) as contributors to the state’s economy through exports. Last year’s program honored eighteen outstanding Connecticut firms who exported to a total of 70 unique markets around the world. Note: companies can apply for new to market award and/or growth award. Companies applying do not need to qualify for both categories. (1) New to Market: Connecticut company has exported (i.e. earned revenues from billing a customer outside the US) to a country in Calendar Year 2023 (January 1 through December 31, 2023) that the firm has not previously exported to in years prior.OR(2) Growth Award: Connecticut company has seen a minimum of 10% growth of export sales to one country. Sales growth realized in calendar year 2023, as compared to sales to that country in calendar year 2022. Product exported contains at least 51% US content. Notes:No sales minimums or documentation is required.Sales to Puerto Rico are not considered exports, but Canada certainly qualifies!Deadline to submit award nomination: Friday, August 30, 2024 Note that companies will be informed about award decisions in early September 2024 .
