Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman - Kaanapali, Maui is a casual farm-to-table eatery and bar that offers a wide range of Hawaiian food, beer, and co*cktails. It is the second location of Monkeypods on Maui and belongs to Peter Merrimans restaurant group, which includes other establishments like Merrimans and Moku Kitchen.

We’ve eaten here several times but this last time was phenomenal. Fin was our server and was FANTASTIC! Admittedly, we are slightly high maintenance due to the fact that we eat extremely healthy and are gluten-free. Or some say we just know what we like. 😂 She got both of our orders 100% correct. She was polite, professional, efficient, detail oriented, and very friendly so much so that we told Luke the Manager how amazing she was.The food is always delicious, and the prices are fair. Their sauces are delicious! You get validated parking for two hours. They are typically always booked so I would recommend planning ahead and putting your name on the list.

Monkeypod is located near the rear of Whaler’s village towards the beach. It is right behind Hula Grill, which is the restaurant at Whaler’s Village with the best beach view, however you can still see the water from many of the seats at Monkeypod. The menu includes wings, pizza, ribs, burgers, fish tacos and more. For dessert they offer several types of pies. They also have a good sized bar area and often have live music. It can get pretty loud at Monkeypod, but that is typical for these types or places. On this trip we tried the fish sandwich and the Maui Cattle Company Cheese burger with fries. This was the best burger I had on my visit to Maui (the other burger I tried was at Cool Cats Cafe).Staff was also very friendly. Worth a visit, but as with most places in the area be prepared for a wait.

This is a big busy restaurant in Whaler’s village in Lahaina. They have a decent happy hour that starts at 3:30 for a couple of dollars off co*cktails, wine, and beer, along with half off the non-seafood appetizers. It’s a fun restaurant with a good vibe. The food is pretty good too - portions are large. I enjoyed the wings, garlic truffle fries, and fish tacos. The co*cktails were quite yummy too! The service was attentive and friendly! Can’t go wrong at this tourist hot spot!

Their Mai Tai is by far the best I ever had in my life. All of their dishes have been excellent. Pumpkin Ravioli, pizza and garlic fires were delicious. I would seriously recommend to go to this place. The atmosphere is really great. We went there 3 times in a span of 7 days and were not disappointed even once.We tried both the locations on the island and both were actually good

Absolutely the best Mai Tai we had while on the island was at Monkeypod. We are here twice during our stay and both times were very satisfied with the food, service, and experience. We also enjoyed the lobster deviled eggs and the garlic truffle fries.

Absolutely wonderful night! My reservation at another restaurant for my birthday got cancelled last minute! I was left franticly trying to search for a last minute reservation for a Saturday night 🤦‍♀️ We decided to come to Monkeypod because we had such a pleasant time at their happy hour earlier in our trip. Best decision we could have made! We walked right in and were seated, our waitress Taylor was such a delight, such a comforting energy and had great recommendations for us. I have had a lot of AMAZING Ahi Steaks during my time on Maui so I wanted to make sure it was going to hold up, I asked Taylor and she told me it was amazing. She was right! I all but licked my plate clean! We also got a free pie for dessert, it was such a lovely birthday dinner. Wishing this place nothing but success in the future!

We've been here 3 times on our 7 day trip. Food is amazing, drinks are almost better. Had poke tacos & raviolis for apps, chef's special (was so good I only got the last bite pic) and saimin noodles for entree's. Which, by the way, blew each of our minds. They have the best Mai Thai's in the surrounding area (the honey foam is to die for). If you're lucky enough to get Tracy as a bartender, listen to her. We enjoyed some cucumber salad and I said I wanted a drink to match. She made me the best cucumber drink, and answered my husband's request (which he does to many bartenders, who never oblige and make him pick): "I like any beer, you pick" and she did, it was a delicious hazy and he was very satisfied! This is the place to come, worth the wait if there is one!

Pros:We ordered a cheeseburger and a margarita pizza, and both were delicious. I highly recommend the cheeseburgerger, it's toppings are special and I have not seen the same thing elsewhere. The waitresses are friendly and professional. Finally, it has a great atmosphere, our table has a view of the beach.Cons: Honestly, I did my best to find something as cons, but nothing catches my eye.

Such a great restaurant, delicious food! We came in for happy hour after shopping at Whaler's Village. Great deals on apps and pizzas! All our food was delicious, we tried all four pizzas, pumpkin raviolis and burgers with fries. Kids loved the pasta dish on the keiki menu. Unfortunately, our order had several mistakes including one person with the wrong pizza and another who's drink and meal were skipped all together. They finally got food as everyone was finishing. Probably due to the size of our group but still we had a very straight forward order. Love the decor and atmosphere! Live music sounded great but was way too loud. We were having to shout to carry on a conversation at our table. Overall loved the food and the vibe and will definitely be back.

Went here for lunch on a recommendation from a friend. The Mai Tais were the best I've ever had. The fish tacos were amazing, nice and spicy! Pina colada was tasty, and the beet salad was delicious. Coconut cream pie was tasty, but the banana cream pie was the best!

We ate here on a recommendation from someone at the airport. The staff and service was top notch. The 2 bar tenders we had were first class. I consider myself a deviled egg connoisseur from indiana. But these were the best I've ever had.

Monkeypod Kitchen may have been the greatest meal my wife and I have ever eaten. We went here for our honeymoon and this was recommended by some locals. Everything was absolutely perfect! If nothing else you have to get a slice of one of their cream pie(s).The Mai Tai(s) are also the best on Oahu, so that's a bonus.

Our family went here last night for dinner, and it was so good! Because we have traveled here from the Los Angeles area we’ve been hungry earlier than normal. We rolled in here around 4 PM and found out that they were happy hour prices. All of the pizzas were half off. We grabbed a couple things off the kids menu, one of my nephews got a cheeseburger. Another one of my nephews got some fish.We ended up ordering a couple pizzas, garlic, truffle fries, some normal fries, and I got several orders of chicken wings. We also ordered the fish and chips. That was super good. If you’re looking for some really good fish and chips, I would highly recommend that.I really enjoyed the chicken wings as a starter, they were very good. We didn’t do much for drinks because we had been in the sun all day and so we mostly just drink water. Our server was extremely kind. He did such a great job taking care of us. We were a large party, and I was thrilled that we got sat at a really nice table. The location is really clean to.

Fantastic food and unbeatable location. The only downside is the restaurant is loud so talking can be hard. We had lots of great stuff and visited a couple times. Easy walk from the hotels and parking available in Whaler’s Village. Loved the virgin Mai Thai and pineapple pork pizza! And the strawberry cream pie dessert is a must!

The best Mai Tai in Maui! This is located in Whaler’s Village and we went for the Mai Tai hype and it was worth it! The ambience is so Hawaii, food especially fried and gnocchi, service and vibe is great. They have non alcoholic Mai Tai version too

Great friendly efficient service by Stacy! The Wings and Mushrooms Truffle pizza are delicious. Don’t miss their lobster deviled eggs. It’s open air roofed with ceiling fans but nice. Open kitchen!

Good food. Especially the Maitai (pineapple) was great! We had lobster/egg devil, fish n chips, tacos, and pizza. Decently priced. Service can a bit slow (may be because we went at the peak dinner hours). Plenty of parking space.

Excellent food. Farm to table freshness. I had the fish tacos, and they were pretty perfect. I also loved my side of broccoli and the strawberry pie. I also had a virgin pins colada, and I have no notes. Highly recommend this place.

Does not disappoint!I did get their signature Mai Tai and it was indeed amazing. Not mind blowing, but it was super easy to drink and quite tasty. The Lilikoi foam on top was really tasty! For food, we ordered poke tacos, fish sandwich, and the burger. We also added truffle fries for our sandwich and burger for an extra $3 each.At $24 for the poke tacos I didn't know what to expect, but there was SO MUCH ahi tuna stuffed in those taco shells that I feel like I got my money's worth. It was very fresh and very yummy.Great appetizer! The burger was a good burger. It was nothing crazy, but I enjoyed it. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium rare. The fish sandwich however was straight up amazing!! I would be totally content coming back here every day and ordering the fish sandwich. The truffle fries were good and I liked the truffle taste, but next time I'd probably give the $2 regular fries a try.The fries could have been crispier, I feel like they were done before the rest of the food.

MonkeyPod had a great options for fish dishes. We were a party of two and ordered a Chef’s special, a Fish Sandwich and fresh coconut water. Chef’s special came with yellow fin Tuna, fried shrimps, brown rice, cherry tomatoes and some green veggies as sides (I forgot what that was but it was delicious, I swear) along with a white sauce and tomato sauce that made it super delicious! Fish sandwich was great too! We ordered it with garlic truffle oil fries that were so crispy and yummy! However, the coconut water didn’t taste good, it was so bland. Overall our experience was great. We would like to shout out for our server! She was super friendly and really caring for the customers! One of us had some food allergies and she made it sure none of the foods contained anything that can cause harm. We greatly appreciate her service!

Monkeypod is set in a mall (Whalers Village) and is almost beachside. It’s offset by a lawn and has beautiful ocean views. Servers very attentive professionals. We were treated to live music at 2pmWe started with fish and chips(mahi mahi)4 stars. Fish was perfectly cooked 3 smallish pieces. FF was a bit burnet. But they were fresh real potatoes with skin. I didn’t like the malt vinegar mayo. Asked for tartar instead also it was ok.We had Maui beef cheeseburger. It was do delish. You can tell meat had never met a freezer and the “crust” on the burger was perfectly cooked. One of best burgers I’ve ever had 5 stars. We had grilled mahi mahi fresh sandwich. It was very good but not best (fish market was loads better) 3.75 stars. The coconut cream pie my friend ordered. She gave it onLy 3 starsSECOND REVIEWwe came back for happy hour since it was our last day(and meal)The live reggae/hawaiian acoustic Solist was really goodWe had three drinksLa Nola Oi was a mix of passion fruit and lime was very tasty 4.5 starsthat was followed by the famous Mai Tai—3.5 stars only. The passionfruit foam is tasty but the drink is not very goodI had the virgin Mai Tai. It was very tasty. Though it is a bit too sweet for me—I usually need to dilute my juice with water. 4 to 4.5 starsWe also had the kalua pork pineapple pesto pizza. I loved the pork and fresh pineapple. I’m still debating if pesto goes well with kslua pork. It wasn’t bad but not sure if the mixture is really harmonious. 3.5 stars

Vegan review only - they got rid of the vegan corn chowder and this is very upsetting. That thing was the best. There wasn’t a ton of vegan options but I was always happy to come and get the vegan coconut corn chowder and get a salad. They replaced it with “vegan tortilla soup” which was very thick (more like a stew) and really not that impressive. It was fine.I also got the kale salad, and was underwhelmed. The dressing doesn’t take like much and I’m not really a fan of that many raw onions. Best part was the macadamia nuts. Our server Phin was very helpful. She explained that if I was happy to eat honey, I could get one of the pizzas, but obviously modified for no meat and no cheese. She offered to sub mushrooms or any other veggie for the meat toppings, but I wasn’t really interested in getting a no cheese pizza. There’s a sorbet option for dessert. The rest of my family (one vegetarian and three omnivores) seem to be pretty happy eating here. Lots of vegetarian options. The vegetarian says they have a good value happy hour.As a vegan, I’m not going back. (Unless they bring back the corn chowder.)There’s live music from local musicians, which is cool. And it’s right on the beach and open air so you get nice sunset views. They don’t take reservations, so get there early or be prepared to wait and wonder the shops of whaler village. They validate parking in the garage, but we always walk.

Usually packed and difficult to get a seat at the bar, but we went for lunch just after 11am and plenty of space. Service was great - very friendly bartenders and wait staff. Fans of lilikoi can't go wrong with the house Mai Tai topped with lilikoi foam or the No Ka Oi made with lilikoi pure. Whiskey fans will enjoy the Dad Bod, and if fresh Ruby red grapefruit is your thing go for the After Midnight. I loved the Kauai Shrimp & Hamakua Potstickers served with a dollop of hot chilil paste and Chinese mustard for those who want to add a little heat. Fish tacos were quite fresh and the mole was a nice twist. Fish and Chips are prepared tempura style for a lighter, crisper batter. No room for dessert, so I guess I'll have to go back for some pie 😉

Bruce J — Google review

Their pizzas are half-priced during happy hour! The drinks, the view, and the food, all very good. No complaints. Might be hard to find seats since it’s by Lahaina which is very touristy. But worth the wait!
