This was my first work trip, and I was both nervous and excited to be here, I had been looking forward to it for weeks. Thoughts swirled in my mind—would I present myself well? Would the shoot go as planned? Would the client meeting be successful?Irrespective of how nervous I felt earlier during the transit, it later made me feel determined. I reminded myself that I had earned this. Each moment made me feel empowered. I looked around at the busy environment and realized this was what I had always wanted. The enthusiasm, the sense of purpose - it was all here, and so was I.The fear of traveling alone and not meeting expectations started to fade as I enjoyed each moment. It was not just a professional milestone, but also a personal recognition. I learned that stepping out of my comfort zone wasn't just about facing fears; it was about finding endless possibilities. The whole experience made me stronger and proved that I was more capable than I had thought.The lesson I learned from this journey is priceless: ✅ Always step out of your comfort zone to achieve bigger and better things.✅ Being independent helps you grow personally and improves your ability to handle people and situations.✅ The experiences you gain are invaluable.To anyone afraid to take that leap—go for it! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 “𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞”𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮?I’ve always been passionate about learning new things, and this does not necessarily pertain solely to my career.To me, getting exposure is about trying or experiencing new things that you might never have had the chance to do otherwise. I’ve always been a wanderer, and that fueled my desire to move out of India to see this beautiful world, learn about different cultures, and adopt the best aspects of them.Recently, I visited different landscapes in Scotland and saw a couple trekking with an infant. I could have never imagined going on a trek with an infant back in India. This is what exposure means to me.Similarly, I also wanted to work with people from around the world to learn how they think and perform their jobs and to adopt the best possible practices. This has helped me acquire new skills. The time away from home might give you fresh eyes and a new perspective on your life, career, and ideals. Since I began travelling on my own, I've developed a new perspective on life. To Himachal Pradesh, on my very first journey abroad. Travelling to a new place allows you to expand your horizons and rethink your priorities by exposing you to new cultures, experiences, and obstacles. You may learn a lot about other cultures and ways of life by taking a trip. The novelty of a new setting has the potential to stimulate the mind and lead to the development of original thoughts. Problem-solving and self-assurance are two areas that can benefit from the obstacles of travelling to a new location. To sum up, taking a trip can help you reflect on your life and make adjustments for the better.I was amazed at how much I grew as a person during my time alone in Himachal Pradesh. The freedom and independence of travelling alone can be life-changing. As a result of being forced out of your normal routine, you become more independent and flexible. You'll gain confidence and the ability to make sound choices as you're pushed to think for yourself. In addition, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people when travelling alone might help you develop compassion and understanding. Home, healthy, happy and bursting with creativity again. Who knew three weeks overseas on a dream trip to Greece would be so invigorating. Maybe many of you who travel regularly. Yet for me, travel is not something I've done for a very long time so whilst I expected the personal enjoyment, I've been surprised by the inspiration the trip has provided me in a professional sense.Prior to leaving on what was originally a long service leave break and early special birthday celebration, I took an out of character, huge risk and left my 10 year plus secure employment. Turns out the timing was perfect, and the trip was actually the circuit breaker I didn't know I needed.Having time and space to think deeply is a rarity in our modern, fast-paced, always-on lives. So, I relished in the opportunity to be creative again without forcing it. Content ideas popped into my head almost daily. I thought about ways to help my network that I've not explored before. My notes app is full of quickly typed starter sentences and voice memos. The sights, sounds, colours and light of different places, foods, language, people and ways of life, welcoming in new ideas. So, the challenge now of course is how to keep that ticking. I'm curious, without the luxury of an overseas trip, how do you find inspiration and ways to stay creative in your business or day-to-day professional life? Love to hear your thoughts.

Anniversary Reflections One year ago, on October 3rd, 2023, I embarked on an incredible journey with my family as we relocated to Dubai. I am endlessly grateful to Thomas Loest for this life-changing opportunity! 🙏 Reflecting on the past 12 months, I wanted to share some, I hope, valuable lessons for those considering a similar career move:1️⃣ Confidence is key: Embrace self-doubt as a natural part of change, but never lose sight of your capabilities. You're not alone on this expat journey, and with resilience, you'll thrive in your new environment. Stay confident and do what is right!2️⃣ Family matters: Relocating affects loved ones too, so dedicate time and care to ensure their transition is smooth. In my case, it was crucial for our elder daughter. Remember to have fun together, whatever happenns.3️⃣ Embrace connections: I'm really thankful for the friendships that blossomed here, like, for example, Ramy Zaki from Multinational Companies Business Group MCBG, my basketball buddy Mohammed Al Alami, and dear friend Akshat Khandelwal, among many others. These connections are the lifeblood of this new chapter. Stay open to the world and take opportunities!It's not a new life - but a new chapter filled with fresh routines and challenges. "Why did you move back to India?"A question I was asked a lot in the past month since I made this sudden move to go back to India after living a great life in Canada for 2 years. While it took me some time to accept the fact that I did take this decision, now that I have accepted the reality, I thought of sharing some insights about the same.Moving to a different country is never an easy decision. Moving abroad was also a dream for me, like any other kid in India. And it took me two good years to finally get there. The life there was as dreamy as it could be. And before people assume, no, I was not ever jobless. In fact, I would be one of the luckiest ones to get a part-time job within 10–15 days after landing and a full-time job while doing my second course. And I still have two good years of VISA left.SO WHY DID I MOVE BACK? While this decision was too personal, I thought of sharing some points for people going through the same phase.- I felt my ambitions and professional aspirations would flourish better in India than Canada at this time. While Canada might have some decent opportunities, I didn't find it worth my experience and education. Hence, I couldn't see any growth in my personal or professional life in the near future.- While this might not be an issue for others but the harsh weather was not suitable for my physical and mental health. My body went through a lot of changes in Canada, and I felt it was high time to listen to what it needed.- While living abroad gives you a sense of independence and responsibility, I would any day prefer staying close to my friends and family. Though I still live in a different city than my parents, I still feel at home here.- As per my research and understanding, I also felt India had way better opportunities in terms of jobs and business in the next few years, and I didn't want to miss a chance to grab those opportunities.- It makes sense that permanent residence in Canada would be very appealing. Nonetheless, I think that reflecting on your life and reaching a position where all of your objectives are aligned might be more powerful than following the expectations of others.- I also didn't come back without a goal or plan. I found this amazing job before moving back, which made it easier for me to make this decision. I feel that if you have something to look forward to, it makes it easier to make a decision.While I share this post, I am and will always be eternally grateful for this opportunity to move to Canada, meet some amazing people, and live an amazing life there.
