"...Making him drive faster isn't going to do anything," Y/n lazily looked up at the jester, who had a card to the captain's throat. It had been an hour since the two first got aboard, and Y/n was tired of both Hisoka and the captain's moans, "There's a storm, if we go any faster the boat is just going to sink."

The captain nodded hastily, "What- what they s-sai-said!" He stumbled over his words, too scared to talk coherently.

Hisoka smiled, pressing the card further into the captain's skin. Human blood stained the playing card a deep, disgusting red, "Did I give you permission to speak?" He asked, a smile dancing on his lips, "Or talk about my doll?"

Y/n's eyes narrowed, but they didn't say a word. They instead opted to just groan and roll their eyes at the jester. The captain shook his head rapidly, backtracking on his previous statements, "N-no! I-I-I'm sor- sorry!"

Hisoka hummed, "Contact whoever hired you," He commanded the captain, "Tell them to bring us directly to the exam site."

The captain nodded, "Y-yes! I- I- I will!" He reached for his phone with shaky hands, texting a number to let the two pass through easily.

Y/n watched as blood dripped down from the man's neck to the floor. They clicked their tongue, "Once we get to the exam, act as if you don't know me," They told the magician.

"Oh?" Hisoka smiled, "And why is that? Are you embarrassed?"

Y/n shook their head, "Hunters are supposed powerful, I need allies," They explained, "And you'll scare them off if you lurk around me all the time."

"You wound me, darling," Hisoka pouted, his grip on the captain's shoulder tightening, "Aren't I the only ally you need?" He asked.

"You are reckless, Hisoka," Y/n said, "When you challenge Danchou, you're going to die," They left no room for interpretation, "And the Spider will turn it's back on me, your 'other half.' Then I'll have no one."

"By that point you won't need anyone, Y/n," Hisoka used the puppet's real name, making them flinch slightly, "So, don't even try to escape me, alright?" He was smiling, but Y/n could tell he was attempting to contain his bloodlust.

Hisoka didn't appreciate Y/n attempting to leave him. Not one bit. He owned the puppet. He had found them, given them a home, and unlocked their nen abilities. Without Hisoka, Y/n would have still been rusting in Meteor City.

Y/n was his toy for entertainment, they couldn't just leave their savior.

The fact that even the Phantom Troupe was grouped in with him irked him to no end. Those pesky spiders would never be as close to Y/n as he was.

He was in control of Y/n's every move. Y/n was his obedient dog, who would do whatever it took to get a treat. And he was their kind owner.

Leaving him was not an option. Getting close to useless people was not an option. Y/n despised humans, anyway, why were hunter applicants any different?

"When I reach my peak, I will need followers," Y/n argued as they played with their electricity, "I need worshipers. What better place to find some than the Hunter's exam? It's full of hopeful, optimistic idiots."

Hisoka's smile never fell, but Y/n watched as it tensed. Bloodlust poured from his entire body, "I am all you'll need, Y/n," His voice was stern, "Don't even try to betray me."

"..." Y/n didn't speak for a moment, "There's going to be a Troupe meeting sometime in September, we have to go."

"Do we, now?" Hisoka hummed, "Must be important if the Troupe reached out so early... and to you."

"I'm just as much of a member as you are, Hisoka," The puppet said, "Of course they'd tell me."

"You know, doll, I get jealous very easily.."

Y/n's eyebrows scrunched, "And why's that my problem?"

"I don't like it when you talk to those spiders... or refer to yourself as one of them."

Y/n could no longer see Hisoka's expression. Was he still smiling? Was there a frown on his painted face? "Then next time be more reliable," Y/n scoffed, ignoring the overwhelming feeling of bloodlust filling the room.

"I'm only warning you, darling," Hisoka said softly as he stared foreword, back turned to the puppet, "I don't think I'll be able to control myself if you get too close to someone else.."

"...I know."

"I don't wish to..." Hisoka paused, looking for the right word to use, "...punish you, again."

If Y/n was human, they would have shuddered at the thought of Hisoka's punishment. They wouldn't go back there. Not ever again.

"And would you look at that!" Hisoka turned around to face Y/n. He clasped his hands together and smiled, "We're here!~"

Y/n looked up at the man who had quickly changed moods, "Yeah. Can't wait," They said, a sarcastic edge to their voice.

"Did I upset you, dear?" Hisoka asked, his voice was insincere, "I forgot that it was a touchy subject?"

Liar. Y/n wanted to spit out. But they held their tongue, "No. I'm not bothered by it at all." They lied.

"I'm sorry!" The puppet said. If they could, they'd have sobbed. Y/n was on their knees, begging the man to not send them there, "I didn't mean it!"

Hisoka smiled, kneeling down next to the puppet, "Don't lie to me, Y/n," He laughed. He was having fun. He enjoyed watching them suffer, Y/n realized, "I really will miss you. Don't die!~"

The boat they were on came to a stop. They had reached an unfamiliar shore. Hisoka grabbed Y/n's arm and threw them off the boat, "Don't abandon me!" Y/n yelled as Hisoka closed the boat door, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I won't- I won't do it again!"

"I'll come back for you, dear.. it will only be a few months," He said, "I couldn't leave you for too long!"

Y/n watched as the boat disappeared into the mist. Hisoka, their savior, had abandoned them in the most dangerous part of the world. They were all alone again.
