"We're here!~" Hisoka smiled, finally taking the card off of the old captain's neck, "Come, doll."

Y/n stood up and followed Hisoka off the ship, cautious not to step on the blood that splattered all over the ship.

"The captain gave us the exact place the exam is held, so let's just get a cab," Hisoka said as he scanned the area.

"How kind of him," Y/n rolled their eyes.

Hisoka grabbed Y/n's arm and dragged them with him to some parking lot. From there, he looked around for someone about to get into their car and pressed a nen infused playing card to their neck, "I need you to take us somewhere. Got it?"

Y/n internally groaned as Hisoka threatened the person, causing a scene, "Of- Ye-yes! Any- anywhere you w-want! Just d-don-don't kill me!"

Hisoka hummed, getting into the passenger's seat. Y/n got in the back, "Take us to Gohan Grill." The driver nodded, quickly getting out of his parking spot and speeding through the lot, "I want to be there within the hour."

"B-but! It's already 9:34! Z-Zab-Zaban City is.. is an hour away!"

"I don't care."

If Y/n could get carsick, they'd have thrown up everywhere. The man's driving was jerky, and far too fast. Hisoka was always in a rush, it was horrible.

The puppet could feel the men's eyes on them, staring them down as if they were prey. Y/n could tell none of them were anywhere near strong enough to defeat them.

Filthy, weak humans, the lot of them.

The elevator came to a halt, and the doors opened to reveal a massive cave. Y/n was the first to step out of the elevator, they were given badge 39.

"Keep that on you at all times!" The little green man who gave it to them said. Y/n only nodded, clipping it onto their clothes. Not many people had joined yet, go figure.

"Heya!" A voice called out. Y/n blinked, looking straight ahead to see a chubby man in blue. He was slightly taller than Y/n with tan skin and slicked back hair, "You must be a newbie, right? I'm Tonpa!"

Y/n grimaced slightly, "What do you want?"

Tonpa laughed, "Don't worry," He sighed, "I'm here to help! I'm a pro at this exam by now!"

"What's that supposed to mean?" Y/n couldn't see any aura coming from the man, it was evident he was weak.

Tonpa smiled brightly, "Well, I've taken this exam thirty four times! I'm practically a pro at it!"

"Evidently, you're not a pro at this," The puppet looked the man up and down, "I mean really? You failed this thirty three times?" They laughed, "What a joke."

"W-well!" The man stuttered, his face heating up, "That-! The exam is hard!"

Y/n nodded, still laughing, "Oh, I'm sure.." They mocked, "I commend you, sir. At some point, if I was so horrible at something as simple as the Hunter's Exam, I'd have quit."

Tonpa's face went beet red, "W-well, thank you for the compliment!" He said awkwardly, "H-here!" He dug around in his bag, pulling out two cans of soda, "As a toast to our friendship?"

Y/n looked at the can for a moment. Tonpa waved it right in their face, "No thanks," Y/n said as they waved the man's hand away, "I don't enjoy sweet things."

"R-right!" Tonpa nodded, "W-well, I can tell you about the other applicants, then?" Tonpa looked around the room, "Over there.." He whispered, pointing to the elevator that had just opened, "Do you see that guy? The first one to come out?" Y/n looked at the people filing out of the elevator. First to step out was none other than Hisoka, "He's dangerous. Don't go near him. He almost killed an examiner last year.."

Y/n hummed, nodding, "Oh my!" They gasped, "Is that so..? How scary.." Y/n looked at Hisoka, who made eye contact with them.

"He- he looked over here..!" Tonpa cowered behind the puppet, "sh*t.. we're dead!"

Y/n watched as Hisoka approached the two, "Oh no.. He looks angry.." Y/n held back a snicker, "I hope he doesn't try and kill us.."

Hisoka stopped a few feet away from the pair, "Hm? What's this?" He asked, his arm reaching out, "Come," He commanded, pointing out his index finger and beckoning Y/n to join him.

Y/n rolled their eyes and groaned, but did as they were told, "Speak of the devil and he shall appear," They said sarcastically.

"I just can't leave you alone for a second, can I?" Hisoka asked, his golden eyes staring at Tonpa with malice, "Rodents just love to scurry close to valuables, hm?"

"I- I'm sorry!" Tonpa bowed down, apologizing, "I.. I wasn't- wasn't aware you two we-were friends..!"

"Eh? I'm not his friend," Y/n frowned, looking up at Hisoka.

Hisoka laughed, "You wound me, doll..~" He sighed, "Let's step away from this.. rodent, alright?" Y/n only nodded, following Hisoka away from the man. Once they were far away, Hisoka examined Y/n's clothing and body, "Did he touch you, dear?"

Y/n shook their head, "No. And stop fussing over me. I'm not a child."

Hisoka's eyes narrowed, and his lips turned downwards slightly, "Always so harsh.. It really does hurt my feelings.."

Y/n hummed. They didn't respond. Hurt the man's feelings..? Hisoka had no feelings at all. He sought out pleasure, that was all. He did not keep Y/n around because they two were friends, or because he had any real feelings for Y/n. He kept Y/n with him because he found them interesting.

Of course Y/n was interesting to him, who wouldn't be intrigued by a nen infused puppet? Y/n was well aware of their situation. They were a toy that would one day be thrown out.
